"Every Child Counts" is completely self-supporting including all salaries, building and operating costs. All funds raised are fully utilized by our Program. Part of the mission of ECC is to provide help to all disabled students, whether their families are in the financial position to support that help, or not. Approximately 1/3 of our families cannot afford the tuition, medication or doctors fees, and several others need assistance with funding. The majority struggle to meet these costs but volunteer to help the program with time and services where they can. Students are encouraged to assist their school by maintaining the building and grounds, and producing products to help sustain the program.
Professional Training remains under the direction of Dr. Sharon Kossack from Florida International University. Dr. Kossack donates all of her time and co-ordinates other volunteer trainers. 40 teachers from throughout Abaco's public and private schools have participated and benefited, as a result of this free training, 20 teachers and volunteers have been certified. The certification is in Reading Diagnosis and Remediation Training. The Training has been ongoing for over seven years and all teachers, parents and volunteers are welcome. |
